Cordoba is a historical city located in Andalusia, one of the seventeen autonomous communities of Spain. This beautiful medieval city has been declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO, thanks to the presence of spectacular monuments and squares. What amazes most is the famous Mezquita, the mosque, which has later become the St Mary Magdalene Church. Its particularity is the meeting of different architectural styles and religious cultures: the Islamic one and the Christian one. In the center of this building there is Patio de los Naranjos, that is a fascinating courtyard full of orange trees, which stay alive thanks to an interesting irrigation system.
If you are in Cordoba, you should definitely visit the Juderia, the Jewish quarter of the city, which hosts a Synagogue, the only one of all Andalusia.
If you have some time left, book a visit to the Alcazar, the royal palace, or go to the Roman Bridge over the river Guadalquivir; or visit the Medina Azahara, that is also a UNESCO Human Heritage, but which is located a few kilometers from Cordoba.
Cordoba will remain in our hearts mostly because of its particularity: the mixture of different cultures and architectures makes this city a magical place.

Cordoba è una città storica che si trova in Andalusia, una delle diciassette comunità autonome della Spagna. Questa bellissima città medievale è stata dichiarata Patrimonio dell’Umanità dall’UNESCO, grazie alla presenza di spettacolari monumenti e piazze. Ciò che colpisce di più è la famosa Mezquita, ovvero la Moschea, che è diventata poi la Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta. La sua particolarità è proprio l’incontro di diversi stili architettonici e culture religiose: quella islamica e quella cristiana. Al centro di questa struttura si trova il Patio de los Naranjos, ovvero un meraviglioso cortile costellato di aranci, che rimangono in vita grazie ad un interessante sistema d’irrigazione.
Se vi trovate a Cordoba, dovete assolutamente fare un salto a la Juderia, il quartiere ebraico della città, che ospita anche una Sinagoga, l’unica presente in Andalusia.
E se vi avanza tempo passate per l’Alcazar, cioè il palazzo reale; oppure recatevi al Ponte Romano sul fiume Guadalquivir; o visitate la Medina Azahara, anch’essa Patrimonio dell’Umanità Unesco, che però si trova a pochi chilometri dalla città di Cordoba.
Cordoba ci rimarrà nel cuore soprattutto per la sua particolarità: l’insieme di varie culture e architetture rende questa città un luogo magico.
