La Reggia di Caserta
3 September 2020
ENGLISH:
The Royal Palace of Caserta, which is one of the most important artistic monuments of Italy, is located in Campania and it has been recognized by UNESCO as a World heritage. It was designed in 1750 by Luigi Vanvitelli, upon decision of the king of Naples Carlo VII of Borbone. It belongs to the italian baroque and it is fronted by a park, which is also a World heritage. The Royal Palace of Caserta occupies 45.000 square meters and, composed of 5 floors, it is 36 meters high. On its main facade there are 143 windows and, inside the palace there are 1200 rooms and 34 stairways. The building is made of bricks and it presents a huge central dome. Its inside part is full of decorations and art works such as stuccoes, bas-reliefs, frescoes, sculptures, inlaid floors.
The beautiful park is an integral part of the Royal Palace. It is one of the most characteristic examples of the Italian park and it consists of fountains, lawns and flower beds. Since it is really big, it is a bit hard to walk through it all, especially during a sunny day. We reserved some bicycles (you can do it inside the park) and we visited it appreciating all its majesty, but also having fun.
ITALIANO:
