The Basilica Of San Francesco is located in Assisi, in Umbria and, since 2000, it has been recognized as a World heritage by Unesco. It was built in 1228 and it was made up of two churches: the Upper Basilica and the Lower one. It is a mixture of styles: the Upper church is in the gothic styler, while the Lower one is in the roman style. Moreover, here it is preserved the Crypt with the tomb of San Francesco. The Lower Basilica hosts some priceless work such as the “allegorical frescoes” by Giotto. In the Upper one are preserved the frescoes related to “The Life of the Saint” by Giotto, some works by Cimabue and many other ones.

La Basilica di San Francesco si trova ad Assisi, in Umbria e, dal 2000, è riconosciuta come Patrimonio dell’Umanità dall’Unesco. Fu costruita nel 1228 ed è formata da due chiese: la Basilica Inferiore e quella Superiore. È un insieme di stili: la chiesa Superiore è di stile gotico, mentre quella inferiore ricorda quello romanico. Inoltre, qui è conservato la Cripta con la Tomba di San Francesco. La Basilica Inferiore ospita alcune opere inestimabili come ad esempio gli “affreschi allegorici” di Giotto. Nella Basilica Superiore sono invece conservati gli affreschi relativi “La vita del Santo” di Giotto, alcune opere di Cimabue e tante altre.
