Duomo di Orvieto
8 June 2020
ENGLISH:
The Cathedral of Orvieto is located in the province of Terni, in Umbria. It was built in 1290, when the pope was Urbano IV, and it is a set of gothic and romanesque styles. Its peculiarity is the facade, where there are pictured the apostles, the evangelists and the stories of the old and the new testaments: it is the symbol of the Christian religion. The lights and the bright colors, the mosaics, the bas-reliefs and the beautiful rose window make the Cathedral a monument of incredible beauty and solemnity. The inside part of the church is also really particular and it has got works of great value, such as the Chapel of San Brizio, which has got some frescoes dedicated to the Universal Judgement; the Chapel of Corporale; a statue of the Pity.
The Cathedral Of Orvieto is one of the most imposing and majestic italian churches and it deserves to be visited. Of course, the facade is what affects and attracts tourists, because of its magnificence. At the same time, the insides are also worthy of being carefully observed. Our suggestion is to stop in front of the Cathedral and be enchanted by its beauty.
ITALIANO:
